LAM 10 INTERNATIONAL WORKSHOP: OPTICS PHOTONICS AND LASERS IN SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY FOR SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT

LAUNCHING OF THE AFRICAN OPTICS and PHOTONICS  SOCIETY

 

13-18 January 2014

 The African Laser Atomic, Molecular and Optical Sciences Network (LAM Network)   in collaboration with the Abdus Salam International Centre for Theoretical Physics (ICTP) , the  International Science Programme (ISP)  at the University of Uppsala (ISP )  the African Physical Society (AfPS) and the African Laser Centre (ALC) will organize an International Conference on Optics,Photonics  and Lasers in Science and Technology  for Sustainable Development, which will be held at the University Cheikh Anta  Diop of Dakar from 13  to 18 January  2014.

Participation
The scientific meeting will consist of invited and contributed papers, poster sessions, exhibitions, and laboratory demonstrations open to scientists, engineers and medical professionals from all countries. Special session on the launch of African Optics and Photonics Society will be held.The program will be conducted in English. Travel and subsistence expenses of the participants should be covered by their home institutions. Limited funds are available for participants from African and Developing Countries. Participants are encouraged to submit a one-page abstract on the topics of the workshop.

Conference package
The total cost of the conference package is 320 euros including lunch , coffee breaks , excursion, cultural event, conference reception, and conference documents for all participants

Visa
Presently there is a biometric visa application for travelling to Senegal for citizens from countries where visa is needed for  Senegalese . General information 
In January usually the weather is dry  in Senegal ; the day time temperatures are around 23 to 25 degrees Celsius. No need for winter coat. Dakar town is a peninsula, it could be appropriate to bring swimming clothes.
